Dutch Garden

The Dutch Garden is on the western end of the house and makes a setting for our drawing room. A box parterre enhanced with clipped Ilex ‘Golden King’ is bedded for spring and summer each year. A stunning display of tulips is followed by summer bedding. In this area are some large containers where tulips are followed by sometimes unexpected and surprising plant combinations, amongst which are massive Brugmansias for summer scent and colour. Here too, a teak conservatory that offers shelter from any showers amid the heavily scented climbing rose, ‘Columbian Climber’, providing flowers for most of the year trained on its rear wall.
